The Montage is electronically produced four times per year & can be done completely from the comfort of your own home, on your own time. It is an important piece of how the MDHA communicates with our members and showcases the great work that goes on throughout the year to promote the profession and increase oral health awareness to all Manitobans.

Dr. Anastasia CholakisDr. Anastasia Kelekis-Cholakis obtained her BA from the University of Winnipeg in 1998 and her DMD and Diploma in Periodontics from the University of Manitoba in 1992 and 1998. She also attended the Misch Institute Program in Implant Dentistry at the University of Pittsburg. Dr. Cholakis is a Fellow of the Canadian and American Academy of Periodontists, and Canadian Dental Association. Dr. Cholakis is the Director of the Graduate Periodontal Program at the University of Manitoba. She currently lectures nationally and internationally, has received numerous teaching awards, including the 2011 Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence. She has published articles in peer-reviewed journals , is a contributing reviewer for the “Journal of the Canadian Dental Association”, and has had a book published on peri-implant complications. She is the founder of the Women’s Dental Network, and a member of the Manitoba Dental Association Board. Her areas of interest are soft tissue plastic procedures and dental implant complications.

The use of a rubber cup within the practice of dental hygiene is not a dying technique. A simple rubber cup can be an essential part of a treatment plan for many procedures including stain removal, application of therapeutic agents, and the maintenance of restorations. This webinar will focus on elements critical to the safe, effective, and efficient implementation of rubber cup procedures including particle size and shape, pressure, speed, ergonomics and selection, and sequencing of pastes and agents.
Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Compare and contrast the following common rubber cup procedures: stain removal, application of therapeutic agents, and maintenance of restorations
- Identify appropriate polishing pastes and agents for common rubber cup procedures
- Recognize the ergonomic benefits of the armamentarium used for rubber cup procedures
- List a variety of polishing technique pearls which help to increase speed, improve effectiveness, and preserve tooth structure
- Discuss the history of the selective polishing movement and differentiate between the traditional and current definitions of selective polish
