Have you been looking for an opportunity to get involved with the MDHA, your profession and the industry AND have a passion and background in graphic design?  We have the job for you!  The MDHA is currently looking to fill the roll of Montage Editor.

The Montage is electronically produced four times per year & can be done completely from the comfort of your own home, on your own time.  It is an important piece of how the MDHA communicates with our members and showcases the great work that goes on throughout the year to promote the profession and increase oral health awareness to all Manitobans.

If you are interested, or would like more information, please email the MDHA office at info@mdha.ca.

On Sunday, October 2nd, 2016 the Manitoba Dental Hygienists Association will once again be joining tens of thousands of Canadians to participate in the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure.

In accordance with the new policy developped by the MDHA Board of Directors, participation on MDHA Team Brush for the Cure is open only to current MDHA members and their non-dental hygienist family members and friends.  Certificates for a PAR will be sent only to MDHA members who participate on run day, in addition a list of MDHA member participants will be forwarded to the CDHM who will determine eligibility for a PAR.

Lets see if Team MDHA Brush for the Cure can raise more money than we did last year!  Make a post on Facebook with the link to your Personal Run for the Cure page, Tweet about it, send out emails, encourage the people you work with to support you, be creative and lets see the donations come pouring in!

Lets raise a lot of money, have a lot of fun, and do what we can to help beat this awful disease!

Volunteers Needed!

Posted by on May 27, 2011 in volunteer | 0 comments

MDHA has another presentation to send your way!

This presentation is for Westgrove Children’s Centre at 50 Westgrove Way. There would be two presentations – one for children ages 2-5 and the other one for children ages 5-12. They have requested anytime, any day in the first week of July. The emphasis would be on basic home care and nutrition. It sounds as though oral hygiene awareness is poor among this group of children and this presentation could be very beneficial!

Also, the presentation for Sir William Osler School is still available!

Please don’t hesitate to email Tara at taraleek@mts.net if you would like to do one of these presentations or have any questions at all.

Volunteer Opportunity – Adult Education

Posted by on May 21, 2011 in volunteer | 0 comments

We have just received a request for one more volunteer!

Location: Sir William Osler School, 1600 Grant Avenue, Room 2

Details: This presentation is for a group of 12 adult students consisting of mostly immigrants and refugees with a kindergarten level comprehension of English. The class is studying oral health and would like a short presentation on dental hygiene – max length 20-25 minutes. Basic oral hygiene and the importance of good nutrition explained in a visual/tactile way would be ideal.

We have a couple great visual/tactile ideas for you to use if you need help getting started; the use of simple pictures/clip art of good foods and bad foods is also great.

Timing: The presentation is flexible! The class runs 12:45-3:45 until June 13th. Ideally they would like the presentation as soon as possible as they’re discussing oral health right now.

Other info: The MDHA can supply toothbrushes and toothpaste for this presentation.

This would be a great opportunity to get a head start on the PAR component of the CDHM’s Continuing Competency Program 🙂

Please consider volunteering your time.

For further information or to sign up, please contact Tara at taraleek@mts.net.
