Title: Equity, Diversity & Inclusion: A Dialogue on Implicit Bias
Abstract: This training will discuss Implicit Bias, how it impacts our decision making and provide practical strategies to interrupt it. Implicit Bias refers to the attitudes, beliefs and stereotypes that affect our actions and decisions. These biases can be both favorable and unfavorable. Implicit bias questions the level to which these biases are unconscious especially as we are being made increasingly aware of them. Once we know that biases are not always explicit, we are responsible for them. We all need to recognize and acknowledge our biases and find ways to mitigate their impact on our behavior and decisions.
- Deepen and promote understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion
- Complete an implicit bias training exercise and discuss the potential impact of bias
- List opportunities for interventions to limit the impact of bias
